Titel: ADAPTING THE VIDEO-DATA-FORMAT OF THE SYNCHRONOUS GROUPWARE “PASSENGER” FOR APPLICATION LAYER ACTIVE NETWORKS
Thema: In comparison to current passive network environments, Application Layer Active Networks (ALAN) is an approach for adjusting the required bandwidth according to the available band-width of each communication partner. For multimedia services which are serving multiple types of clients, this especially requires the adjustment of the data volume for each connec-tion. In comparison to the existing approaches, the Active Networks approach should provide a dynamic modification of the bandwidth by the network. The research undertaken at UDE focuses on the dynamic management of the above mentioned network structures at the application level.
Beschreibung: This thesis should analyze the data-packages transmitted for video communication through the network on their suitability and applicability for adaptation for Active Network environ-ments. Finally a model for data and rulesets for adaptation for the data should be developed, which can be used for the decision of data modification done by the AN-Client. The work encompasses the following: · an analysis for existing toolkits and approaches, · a comparison of their suitability, · the QOS and the priorities of data packages, · a definition of models for rulesets as well as for formats of the Passenger application video components
