||RESEARCH ON MANAGEMENT OF APPLICATION LAYER ACTIVE NET-WORKS WITH FOCUS ON THE SYNCHRONOUS GROUPWARE PASSENGER
||In comparison to current passive Network environments, Application Layer Active Networks (ALAN) are an approach for adjusting the required bandwidth according to the available bandwidth of each communication partner. For multimedia services which serve multiple types of clients, this especially requires the use of the adjustment of the data volume, based on existing approaches, for each connection. In comparison to that, the Active Networks ap-proach should provide a dynamic modification of the bandwidth by the network.
The research undertaken at UDE focuses on the dynamic management of the above mentioned network structures on the application level. For demonstration, the PASSENGER application should be used.
||This thesis should give an overview on the existing approaches for managing Application Layer Networks. Based on these results, a model should be developed, concerning the man-agement of data used for Client-Client and Server-Client communication.
