The faculties of engineering of University of Duisburg-Essen (UDE) in Germany, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) and Universitas Indonesia (UI) collaborate since year 2000. As part of this collaboration the three partners offer double degree programs and exchange programs in various fields of engineering.
- A double degree programme involves a student working for two different university degrees, completing them in less time than it would take to earn them separately. The degree courses in this double degree programs start with a relatively long study period at the home university leading to a final studying-abroad-period of at least one year. Therefore, the structure of the programes is named as x+1-structure, meaning, that the study period abroad is limited to the final year. Several double degree courses have been implemented and can be offered to students from UKM and UI.
- The exchange program offers students various possibilities from studying at one of the partner universities. At UDE tThe exchange programm hold various offers for students from UKM and UI. Study duration can vary from one to two semesters, while students are enrolled as non-degree seeking students.
Interested students have to apply for the programs at their home university and pass a selection procedure.
